Review on ASUS ProArt Display Monitor PA278CV: High Performance 75Hz πŸ–₯️ IPS LED Display with Adjustable Height, Pivot, Tilt, and Flicker-Free Technology by Garland Shockley

Great monitor if you insist - PA279CV (4k/27 ") M1 Macbook

As of March 2022, the monitor will ship with legacy firmware that doesn't support USB-C connections. If you don't have an HDMI or DisplayPort-enabled computer that's actively displaying content, it's almost impossible to get to the menu. This can be fixed with a firmware update that requires a USB drive. I can't post links here but I'm looking for Then maybe update the HUB PD firmware. In the end I didn't do this, not because I didn't want to, but because the .exe requires a Windows computer to run. Asus support says it's not needed for Macintosh, but I've noticed some oddities where the ports don't seem to be getting power, so I can try to report it. The troubleshooting page on ASUS indicates an older firmware version. So in my case I did it twice. With that all done, we're at where the device should have been to write a review. Pros: - The screen is beautiful - significantly better than the LG I returned. - the option to reduce the blue output in a few clicks is very nice - the ability to add shortcuts (e.g. volume up and down, brightness) to a button with a single press on the front panel is very nice - LOTS of USB ports - solid construction Cons (aside from setting a pain above - 3 hours of my life, I'll never recover): - it's not clear if there's a separate update for the USB hub - if so, it looks like it is a windows executable. - support is ok but reality depends on the specialist - built in speakers - call the 50's they want their AM radio back.

Pros
  • rotation setting
Cons
  • So far, so good
