Due to the dramatic increase in traffic on the country roads where I live and ride, I decided to put lights on my bike so I can be seen better. After being blown away by all the lights available, I chose this Cygolite kit based on price, general reputation, and reviews. Out of the box they turned on and cyclically changed all the settings. There are many settings for both the headlights and taillights, including brightness (headlight and taillight constant) and blink rate (taillight only, since the headlight modes are fixed). My bikes are 2003 and 2006 with small diameter handlebars and seat. Posts so there weren't any binding issues like people have with newer bikes. They come with plastic mounts and I agree with some people that a rubber mount might be better and switching from bike to bike would be a bit easier in my case. However, we also know that rubber bands stretch and wear out. so it probably comes down to preference. The daylight photos were taken about 10 minutes after unpacking the headlights. They were taken on a Galaxy S6 with no enlargement or photo editing. The bike is about 50 meters away and facing the sun. The headlight and taillight are set to their brightest continuous setting (headlight not included). Although it's not entirely clear in the photo, both the headlight and taillight were clearly visible despite the sunlight. The flashing modes were even more prominent. In the three photos taken at night, the bike is where I was standing when I photographed it during the day. So you're looking at the end of the driveway now. The photos show constant low, constant medium and constant high settings (I didn't use Boost). The nighttime photo of the taillight was taken with the bike in the same position as the day photo, about 160 feet or so. The rear light works in the same continuous mode as in the daytime recording. Another night shot shows the bike from the side and was taken from about 25 feet away. After the photos were taken, the headlights were charged. on the wall adapter and it took 2-3 hours to fully charge. I tested the headlamp at night after it was fully charged and it seemed to me that boosting is actually a quick way to get the lower setting or blink setting to the brightest setting. When I tried increasing the brightness at constant/full brightness I couldn't see any difference. I can't rate battery life and durability at the moment as I haven't used it yet. In the meantime I just wanted to post a few photos of how this set works during the day and night and I hope these photos help someone else decide. I actually considered the Ranger 1400 and Hypershot 350 before making this purchase. However, after seeing how they behave in the conditions I will be driving (country roads with sun and shade and at dusk), I think the Ranger 1400 and Hypershot 350 may have been too bright for drivers. Be that as it may, when fitting these headlights I made sure to test them remotely while sitting in the car to ensure they wouldn't bother me as a driver and to choose the taillight setting most visible to my eye. .In the end I do not regret this purchase at the moment and will update the review when I use this set.
