Review on Easily Locate AC Circuit Breakers & Test GFCI Outlets with Klein Tools ET310 by Robert Diaz

Works very well with little experience

I work alone most of the time and it can be a chore to turn off the right circuit by myself. So I bought this tester in December 2019 and it has been working great ever since. I use it weekly and once you "feel" it the tester works fine. You'd have to be an idiot not to get this job - that's a salute to the 1 star reviewers. Pros: - Easy to use. Plug the tester into your desired outlet or lamp (lamp adapter included), it will light up to indicate circuit power and also has a GFCI tester. Turn on the wand and slowly move it over the switches and it will illuminate continuously and beep. It helps if you have some circuit knowledge (another salute to the 1 star folks!) and it helps if you can tell if you're looking for a 15 or 20 amp switch, but it's not necessary , it just speeds things up . . - You feel with experience when you are on the right chain and the "magic wand" lets you know. Yes, if you hold a wand near the main power switch it will tell you it's a power switch because technically it is, but you're turning the whole house off with that switch. Small, light, inexpensive. I've used this tester on old two-wire circuits with a handle and a tube - they may pose a problem, but I'm not sure. Overall this is a great locator/circuit tester. I just used it before writing this review to find a 20 amp garage outlet circuit with GFCI that was marked "device" on the panel. I have no idea why some "professional" electricians are so damn lazy to label circuits properly. I'm not a licensed electrician, but I know "laziness" when I see this. Either way, in my experience, this is a great purchase. Hope that helps.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
