I used to use an old sock that was rolled into a donut to make a bun. It was difficult to use and cumbersome. I'm so glad I found these because my hair is much shorter now so I use the smallest donut and as my hair grows I can use the bigger one. It's really very easy to make a beautiful hairstyle in just a few seconds. I use it a little differently than recommended: I take my hair and tie it in a ponytail, then I pull the ponytail through the middle of the donut, then I run the donut to the end of my ponytail, which will be the end of my hair, and then i wrap hair on a donut and slowly roll the donut over my hair causing my hair to twist in it while it makes the bun and then you don't need extra bobby pins or anything to keep the bun in place because your hair is in is ruffled and holds it in place. Another benefit of this method is that if you leave your hair in a bun overnight or for several hours during the day and then pull it out of the bun, it gets a really nice wave, especially when your hair is damp. when you roll it into a bun.
