OEM part, easy install, works great.

Please note that this accessory must be activated with a programming code and diagnostic tool at an authorized KTM Service Center. Installing this part without activating the software will not activate the cruise control function. I bought this for a KTM 790 Adventure R. I believe the same part is used on other KTM models, so your installation experience may vary. On my bike, installation was easy as the bike is pre-wired. I'll skip all the details of the instructions as there are some good videos on YouTube. You can do this job with the tools in your KTM tool kit, but you will need a ratchet wrench with a set of torx bits and a 5mm hex. Reinstallation of the forearm. Wiring to the connectors in the wire harness is the trickier part of the installation. You must remove the entire headlight/dash box to access the connectors. Don't try to get there from the front of the headlight, there's no shortcut. Removing the headlight/dash box to gain access to the wiring harness is easy and I had no problem identifying and swapping all the connectors. If after watching the video about this installation you get scared, I assure you that it is not difficult and there is no way to connect something wrong. The hardest part of the job was getting the folded wiring harness back into the case. Again, it's not difficult and there's no chance of messing things up, but it does require patience and a fair amount of jiggling. You can install and activate the part at a KTM service center or ask them to activate the software and install the part yourself. . If installing at home after activating the software at your dealer, follow these steps to calibrate the device: When activating without a switch installed, the software will flash the cruise control icon on the dashboard when the ignition is on. Install the switch on the steering wheel and connect all the cables. Turn on the ignition, do not press the accelerator pedal. Press the cruise control switch LEFT for 3 seconds, UP for 3 seconds, DOWN for 3 seconds. From the normal CLOSED position, rotate the throttle tube forward (toward the front of the motorcycle) for three seconds. Shame on KTM for the extra charge for the software in addition to charging for this derailleur which has just one more function than the original. All in all, highly recommended for OEM quality, easy installation and perfect performance. Easy garage part installation for the experienced or enthusiastic mechanic.
