The design and size of this unit is perfect for an odd corner on our upper stairway landing between the chimney stack and a doorway, but the shelves themselves are not great. I wasn't previously familiar with Paulownia wood, but it's VERY lightweight (a bit like Balsa wood) and has a nice visual grain pattern. The real issue with the shelves is that they are poorly finished. The rounded corners are extremely rough and don't actually match between the three shelves and there was some front edge damage due to packaging (I always appreciate minimal packaging, but there needs to be enough to protect the product) and/or shipping. It's not super obvious once it's all assembled, but some additional attention could have been put toward quality assurance. However, I did contact the seller/manufacturer and they are responsive to the feedback.
