Unboxed with a touch of excitement. This quickly wore off as I could already tell that the vinyl surface of each compartment lid looked wrinkled/wavy. Looks like what I expect will happen to vinyl in 5 years. (Photos of the covers of each compartment are attached). The construction seemed solid, and I opened the lids of each compartment. There are no issues with the front compartment, other than there's no clip, magnet or anything to secure the lid and it seems that simple bumps can cause it to rattle. The rear compartment starts my concerns. First, it opens from the front passengers. Annoying but manageable. Inside was a removable white plastic box, a black plastic tray (pictured), and a metal bracket with a packet of self-tapping screws. The white plastic box has been slid into the bottom of the console where I think it belongs. No matter how you turn the black plastic tray, it doesn't even come close to fitting into the opening (unless you turn it on its side, which causes the contents to squirt out and end up there on the side, which makes no sense). I've attached a photo of how big the inner tray dip is. There was a metal bracket about 10 inches long crammed into the compartment containing the tray and box, although there was a special sheet stating that Rampage did not supply console mounting hardware. Although they strongly recommend this. As a highly educated person, I still can't figure out what the purpose of such a mount is, or where it even belongs. There is no configuration in which it would have a purpose or even fit. and tray) and they just shaved them there. There were two small holes on the back of the vinyl (see photo) that suspiciously coincided with the edge of the useless latch that was stuffed there. Spring mechanism sounds like out of the box. It would be tolerable if they actually worked. But they don't work. They return to their original state with almost no pressure. You can drag it around the soda can, but it won't stay. There's almost no divider between the two cup holders, allowing them to swing freely when they meet. I think the only drink that fits in it is a jar of spaghetti one-pot sauce. All in all, if you just want to store a few things in your van, then this is for you. If you're looking for a well-made, versatile, and useful console, keep looking.
