The last time I took my BMW to the dealer for service, I knew I had problems with the tire pressure sensor. I wasn't sure if it was the main sensor itself or the wheel sensor. There is a big difference in costs. a few thousand verses for a few hundred. When I left they thought it was the left front wheel sensor but they quoted the cost of the main sensor. At this point I blew that part of the repair. When I got the scanning tool I checked it and it actually told me that the left tire sensor had failed. He also told me that nothing else was needed at the moment. During my last visit to the dealership for service, I told them that my left tire sensor was faulty, not the main unit. I'm not saying my dealer was dishonest, but it's good to double check. I really like the service I get from them. This can save you a lot of money if you check what they tell you. By the way, the device is easy to use. Really great tool for the home garage.
