Excellent quality materials. I just wish they had an easier way to open and close this on a regular (daily) basis, which is easier. Presumably this is fine for one-handed operation, but it's very difficult to level the gate and move it in one sweeping motion. Don't get me wrong, this suits you if you don't use it regularly or if you don't need a free hand to hold your child while operating the gate. But for regular use I would look elsewhere. . We bought it (and kept it) for two main reasons: 1) it looks good, the wood and materials are high quality and not cheap. 2) The included railing mount hardware works with our absurdly large 5-6" wide square railing posts on our stairs. We ended up using both adapter straps to completely bypass our large rack and it worked great. My two year old Daughter can't get over it and trust me she's tried.In general if it suits your aesthetic requirements and needs for a wide railing then you can live with it.
