Review on πŸ”¦ TORCHSTAR Porches: Equally Certified Daylight for Optimal Lighting by Doug Hinrichsen

Excellent product, avoids costly wiring for a separate circuit of the eye.

I bought a corded electric eye and discovered this product by accident. I have outdoor porch lights that I want to turn on at night, but didn't want to buy an expensive timer switch or worse, assemble and connect a circuit to control each light. This product is so simple: screw in the bulb, turn on the switch and go. There have been some complaints that the light can now work properly if the sensor eye on the lamp is facing the wrong way when screwing it into the lamp socket. This occurs when the sensor's eye is pointing towards the back of the instrument where it does not receive enough ambient light. But there's a simple fix: (picture) Take a small insulated tool (like a wooden chopstick) and bend up the metal contact tab inside the socket base where the bulb contacts. Thus, the bulb does not have to be screwed so deep into the socket that it comes into contact with the socket. This adjustment allows the bulb to be more easily screwed into the socket so that the sensor's eye faces the ambient light outside the fixture. I don't know how long these bulbs will last, but so far they're working. better than i expected. A simple solution for night, day and safety lighting.
