This is the first part I replaced on a 1996 Ford Ranger 4L ohv P0402. Excessive EGR flow. This causes uneven idling. So the item was exchanged. That's how it was with DPFE. The EGR valve itself seems to work because when it is disconnected from the idle vacuum the truck idles to level out. I couldn't figure out why this didn't fix the situation. Eventually took it to the dealer and they basically told me to replace the part again. I paid $50 for a genuine Ford part identical to this one. Same part number. I was surprised that it worked perfectly. So that part was wrong. So I guess just a warning that this could happen to you.
