Coffee lovers, buy! It's worth it.

My husband and I did a lot of research and testing before deciding on our latest coffee maker. We had a Capresso that lasted eight years before a few parts failed. We had our eye on Technivorm, but weren't sure we'd be willing to shell out $300 for a coffee maker. In the end we pulled through and didn't regret it. We love this car! We have wood cabinets with a ledge on them that only gives us 16 inches of height and we were initially apprehensive about Technivorm hardware but due to the design they sit perfectly on the counter in front of the cabinet without even moving it. . With our old machine, we constantly switched back and forth between water and coffee filling, brewing and cleaning. The Technivorm stops and we fill it up with the water jug. The machine is plastic or metal, it is metal. I assumed it would be plastic and was very glad it wasn't. She is beautiful and strong. Of course, it is beautiful in any color. First off, it's really easy to set up and use. Just read the little brochure and you can't go wrong. For the first infusions we used the #4 paper filters that came with the box, but possibly on a stainless steel/gold filter. If the instructions say you won't get the same delicious cup of coffee with a gold filter, we don't notice a taste difference. Second, all parts of the coffee maker are easy to clean. We also rinse the filter each time with hot water and Dawn's solution to try to remove any residual oil from the coffee grounds. We really had to experiment with how much coffee we grind to get our preferred strength. If you choose what Technivorm recommends, the coffee will be *REALLY* strong (not to mention you'll be grinding more for each pot and using up your bags of beans a lot quicker). If you want more European espresso, add 7 scoops or 68g of freshly ground coffee beans. You won't have any trouble sleeping. For our flavor preferences, we run two 20-second grinds in our burr mill, which yields 5 to 6 scoops, which is closer to 50g. Between that and 40 ounces of water, what Technivorm says is "10 cups" (or four 10 ounces). cups), the coffee is still very strong but without the bitterness and we can taste all the notes of our coffee beans. The coffee comes out hot and tastes amazing every time. I drink two cups of coffee a day and as I write this I feel like making myself another cup of coffee. I am very happy with our purchase - it's worth every penny!
