I bought this product as my first canister filter. Oase's reputation really made me believe it was the best product. I was immediately surrounded by problems. The main issue seems to be where the hoses connect to the round connector on the unit. The first time I wanted to take it off to clean it, I followed the instructions exactly. I cleaned the canister and put it back under the aquarium. No matter what I did I couldn't get the seal and the water kept coming out. I grabbed the bucket but couldn't figure out what was going on fast enough so I had to rip the entire hose assembly out of the tank to figure out what was going on. Fast forward two hours. The problem is how the above "Montage" (as we will call it from now on) works. It has a rubber seal that runs to the outside. It turned out that this gasket was dented and somehow one of the teeth holding the assembly in the round hole at the top of the filter was broken. I don't know how that could have happened. I really do not know it. Anyway, with some financial investment I was able to take the whole assembly apart and reassemble it very carefully to make sure the o-ring wasn't pinching. I reattached it and lowered myself, and lo and behold, it held water. The filter worked fine. Fast forward to the next time I cleaned it a few months later (the tank was never very dirty and the flow never slowed down). I couldn't take it off this time. I tried, tried, tried - and ended up pulling it out of frustration and managing to destroy the connector completely. Now it's torn apart and half of it is still attached to the top of the filter. Extremely disappointed with this product. I can't recommend it and I won't buy it again.
