Oase Filtosmart Thermo 100

Bought this little canister filter for a 20 gallon freshwater aquarium. I LOVE having a heater in the filter. It's easy to clean/replace media and it's QUIET. My aquascape looks a lot better thanks to the glass lily outlet and inlet tubes that I found elsewhere at Revain. I guess I'll have to buy another one for my other tank.

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • Not bad but...

Great filter don't look at the negative reviews

I don't know what I'm doing wrong but my filter works great. Quiet, efficient, does not require frequent cleaning: has not been cleaned since purchase 3 months ago. Don't think you can buy ten goldfish, put them in a 10 gallon tank and they will be fine with this filter. 10 liters is enough for a group of guppies and not enough even for a goldfish. I have a fair amount of fish and lots of live plants. Never been happier

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • No instructions

Great value for fish and aquatic life

The device is very quiet and compact. The price is excellent in comparison with analogues twice as expensive. The setup instruction is acceptable. Not the best, had to rely heavily on charts. Cleaning becomes a difficult task, the device is heavy when filled with water. There is no noticeable overlap of the pipes from the tank to the pump. I'm expecting a small leak while I figure this out (there are no instructions on how to secure the tank hoses while cleaning). The intake and exhaust pipes…

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!

Works great - Filter

This filter has been working on my 15 gallon Aquascape for about 2 months. It was very easy to set up. Cleaning is as easy as you'd expect from a canister filter. It works silently. The built-in heater ensures an even temperature. The flow rate is excellent. Nitrites and ammonia are zero, indicating more than adequate biofiltration. What more could you want from an external filter? Without exception, OASE makes the best filters. Your customer service should be exceptional. Although I haven't…

Pros
  • Great for me

The filter is good don't expect miracles with a heater

I bought this filter mainly because of the size and the built in heater. I had a specific spot to place my filter and it was the right size for my 22g length. It keeps the water clean and is very, very quiet. Set up was easy and I think the method of preparation is very simple. In fact, I like it better than my "self-priming" filter on another aquarium. Heating. is working? For example, it gives off some heat and actually works well during the day. But I think I'm asking too much for a 100w…

Cost me hundreds of dollars

Worst product I have ever bought for an aquarium or outside of the Amazon. The flow it produces is less than my 10 gallon whisper filter. Even without anything in the filter I got a trickle out of this filter. In the photo, the filter works without absolutely nothing in it. I started having problems in the tank that I couldn't understand. I've researched and researched and spent so much money replacing other aspects of the tank and it never helped. Literally hundreds of dollars were spent…

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Obsolete model

I bought this product as my first canister filter. Oase's reputation really made me believe it was the best product. I was immediately surrounded by problems. The main issue seems to be where the hoses connect to the round connector on the unit. The first time I wanted to take it off to clean it, I followed the instructions exactly. I cleaned the canister and put it back under the aquarium. No matter what I did I couldn't get the seal and the water kept coming out. I grabbed the bucket but…

Pros
  • Comfortable
Cons
  • Easily repairable

Great little heated filter

I have a Filtosmart 200 on my 29 gallon fresh water tank. This filter differs in design from most canister filters. This is not a traditional cake layout. I suggest you read the instructions before doing anything. If you buy one with a heater you will find that the heater reduces the amount of biomedia that can be put into the filter. To compensate, I chose Seachem Bio Matrix. Because of Matrix's large surface area, you don't need to use much. Using the media bags, I placed 2 x 1 cups each…
