Big beautiful bookshelf speakers with great sound.

I first bought a set of S 15 left and right front speakers from Best Buy. They are of excellent quality and produce great sound. Only later did I come across an ad for the S 20 here on Amazon. I was curious to see how much better the S 20 is than the 15. Again the S 15 are great speakers so I expected a modest improvement in sound quality from the S 20. First thing that struck me when I got these puppies is the size, they are very large bookshelf speakers, much larger. than the S 15. Reading the dimensions of the S 20 on paper is one thing, seeing them and holding them is quite another. You are tall. As I suspected, the sound was better than the S 15. However, the improvement was much greater than I expected. These speakers produce really high quality sound, I would even say they are the best speakers I have ever had. The tweeters reproduce clear, detailed high frequencies, while the woofer delivers bright and clear mids and lows. The S 20 has some serious bass. Much more than I expected! They sound great even without a subwoofer. I've found this applies to both movies and music. Now I've moved S 15 to the left and right surround channels. I also bought an S 10 surround back set and an S 35 center speaker and they sound fantastic together. I really can't praise the speakers enough. The build quality of the speaker boxes is also excellent, when I play them loud I can touch them and I don't feel any vibrations. The entire American Hi-Fi Signature speaker line is amazing. If you're not familiar with Polk Audio, they specialize in making high-quality midrange drivers. Dollar for dollar the quality there can't be beat. For those with high tastes but moderate budgets like me, Polk is the way to go.
