Review on Osprey Womens Equinox Blue Purple Outdoor Recreation by Mike Barnett

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Lighter but stronger

Bought this backpack for the Camino de Santiago north/coast. I wanted to upgrade my Exos 46L backpack and it was lighter and smaller (38L). The backpack held everything I wanted to pack for a 600+ mile hike and also added another 4 months to the trip. It's lightweight and durable. However, compared to the old version of the Exo, the shoulder straps were not as comfortable and left bruises on the right shoulder. I kept adjusting the straps for a more comfortable fit until the trail made me forget I was carrying 22-25 pounds. I think it was partly because I hit the S/M (small) limit, and also because Osprey made some compromises with the shoulder straps to minimize the overall weight of the pack. Initially, I didn't have enough storage pockets on my waist belt, but I soon found out. Overall, I think it gets a 4.5 out of 5 for a lighter, more streamlined pack. It got me through one Camino and the first leg of another, and traveled the rest of Europe with summer and winter gear. Osprey again lives up to its reputation and offers a quality product.
