I engage in networking on a daily basis, I have .

Because I deal with networking on a daily basis, I have to admit that I haven't given much thought to planning my own home network. Instead, I've relied solely on Wi-Fi as the physical transport and allowed the network to grow "organically" to the point where average throughput on devices, even with an 802.11n adapter, dropped to over 20 Mbps is. Finally, I decided on a pair of 8-port unmanaged GigE switches, placed them in different locations around the house to aggregate the physical connections of all the machines (Mac Pro, Linux server, and a couple of Raspberry Pi-2s), and then bonded them to Fios. gateway device. 100ft Ethernet cables were primarily used to connect switches and the gateway. The result is as expected: the upload and download throughput is around 85+ Mbit/s. Should have done this a long time ago! The reasons I chose this product are: (1) Cat 6 certified so it can support 1Gbps in the future if the service provider offers an internet connection with that bandwidth. Note. Theoretically it can handle 10Gb/s at 160ft - you can think of multiple use cases (Hadoop clusters, VR, AR etc) but you don't have the money to buy 10GigE adapters (someone has to try). !). (2) I can run flat cable on walls, ledges, or around a door and it blends in with the background pretty well. (3) Includes 25 cable clips - enough for me. It's been 3 months and the network performance and upload/download throughput have been very stable and consistent with these cables. I will order more if needed.
