Cluci vs UTO Bag Comparison

I'm obsessed with these backpack bags! Now I have one for each season. My first backpack in a different design was an anthracite and since I've generally already reviewed this bag in more detail I thought I'd take the opportunity to compare the UTO backpack and the Cluci backpack. I bought a red UTO. because this same version of Cluci's folding backpack was not available in red or purple. I wanted to change up the design and color for the holidays so I took the opportunity and ordered the UTO bag as I was curious how it would perform anyway. Let me just say that both brands offer good bags for the price. The Cluci is now a more expensive bag, priced between $5 and $10, give or take. It comes down to small preferences which brand or bag you prefer. I'll admit I haven't used the UTO bag in a very long time so I can't comment on the durability but I've been using each of the Cluci bags for about three months now and haven't had any issues with the bags for all that time . Zippers, seams, vegan leather and inner lining are in very good condition. This is where my personal preferences come in and it is ultimately up to you to decide what best suits your overall needs. The UTO bag is slightly smaller than the Cluci bag. I don't know if it shows exactly in the photos, but the UTO is much more compact. In fact, I had to throw out a few things I normally carry because they didn't fit properly. For most of my trips, the more compact UTO is sufficient. However, I love the space in Cluci bags. If necessary, I can bring books or even a folder. If I have papers or mail that I need to carry, they won't be squashed into space. When I stop by the pharmacy or do a quick shopping spree, I can also put them in a Cluci bag. I've been trying to fit the book into the UTO and the only thing that fits my other stuff is a smaller, mass-market paperback. Anything larger will be damaged or bent due to the narrowing at the top end of the UTO. I have attached photos for reference. Overall, I prefer the Cluci bag for its size. At first glance, I preferred the Cluci bags to the UTO. I think the Cluci brand has a higher bag look. When opening the Cluci packaging there was absolutely no smell but there was a slight smell/chemical smell of UTO which has since dissipated. The hardware on the Cluci is better and my favorite part of these bags, the front zip pocket is larger on the Cluci and can hold more items. This is my bag! Also, the Cluci bag has reinforced backpack straps... which the UTO lacks. However, I find the inner workings of the UTO bags a bit better. The balaclava is not as loose, it is more fitted and has good internal zips. One of my complaints about Cluci bags is the straps. I like the UTO straps better. They are soft, comfortable and I don't fight with them. Sometimes the Cluci straps get twisted in the bottom loops, which can be annoying. I also didn't like how much they slipped when adjusted until I discovered that when I moved the slider to the vegan leather part of the strap, they stopped slipping! Now I never have to worry about it again. They stay down. However, some seat belt material tends to unravel from time to time. I'm also not a big fan of courier/shoulder straps on Cluci bags so I use different ones. Although it's not a deal breaker for me. Both the UTO and Cluci have decent water bottle holders too. Even though the UTO is packed fuller and more compact, I had no problem stashing a water bottle in the side pocket. All in all, if I had to choose a bag or brand, I would go for the Cluci backpacks. They are nicer in quality and appearance, and the size fits my needs better.
