I also came across a much darker color than previously at Petco and contacted Canidae customer service. She was very kind and said yes as they only use natural ingredients and color batches cannot be changed and will vary but there was NO change to the recipe or formula of their limited line of cat food ingredients. BUT my vet disagrees and spends about $1,000 on a diagnosis only to find that she is fine and his diagnosis is "probably a nutritional issue, and "pet food manufacturers are constantly changing suppliers and formulas." and she seemed much better. I then started feeding her Canidae dark food and she got very sick again. We repeated the procedure, took an antibiotic for another 15 days, continued to take Pro Biotic and switched to food. it costs about $55 for 8 pounds and I think she's recovered! Without actual testing, we can't say definitively that Canidae's claim that the formulas haven't changed is disingenuous, but all the anecdotal evidence points to a change , which my cat did not like . and the obvious few others. The product was marked as 'non-refundable' so I had about £30 left. something I wouldn't even give away. Two stars for the support girl's responsiveness. She may not know the truth, and she really tried to be helpful.
