These were just the right thickness but works better without the top paper. Water seems to flow around the pod when top flap is used. Coffee was weaker as a result. Is a little messy without the top paper but the filter does eliminate about 90% of the mess. Also eliminates finger burns. I use Peets Coffee and it is a bit pricey. I did the calculation and found one of their pods contains 6 teaspoons of coffee. My purple screen uses 4 teaspoons. So I use the strong setting on my Keurig coffee maker. When I buy the coffee on sale factoring in the filter I save only 11 cents per cup. Not sure the effort is worth it. You decide!
