Review on πŸ’‘ Blind Spot Crack Light - Enhanced Video Lighting for Streaming, Selfies, and Conferencing - Waterproof and LED Technology by Tyrone Lyons

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Unique and very versatile video light

Crack Light is a small (approx. 2.5 x 4.75 inch) flexible lamp with 49 LEDs. It is powered from any 5V DC power source and is rated to output 720 lumens at 5600K with a beam spread of 120 degrees. It really is a small miracle. Attached is a small aluminum block with two (actually three) ΒΌ-20 bushings and three Velcro straps. You can also use double sided tape, duct tape, or a variety of other ways to attach the Crack Light. You can attach it to your smartphone facing the front or the back. It offers more than enough light to take great selfie shots or even illuminate a small group of people. This is also a good place to mention Crack Light's biggest downside: it doesn't include a dimmer. The company offers a blind light combo deal for a lot more money, but doesn't offer a dimmer-only deal. That's a big mistake I think. At full power, Blind Light is very bright and easy to use, especially at close range. I can try to make the diffuser from a fairly thick sheet of polystyrene, but I'm afraid this may change the color temperature and also cause heat issues. I'm hoping that the manufacturer will reconsider their stance and either offer the dimmer separately at a reasonable price or make the light and dimmer combo the standard option. It also works well as a fill light: a little light can go a long way. I'll try it as a bar light to get rid of the green screen. I hope that the manufacturer Blind Spot will make this pack more attractive and user friendly as I think Crack Light is a very useful and versatile product but the lack of a dimmer option will hamper it a lot in the market.
