When using 2000 and 3000 grit sandpaper on a project, I found that the grit listed was incorrect. I've used over 4ft of 2000 grit only to find it scrapes deeper than 1500 grit. 3000 grit is probably closer to 4-5000 grit. No matter what pressure I used or how much or how little water was added, I never felt like I was grinding anything. Don't waste your money on 2000 or 3000 grit. I ended up burning my colored coat trying to figure out why I was still getting scratches. Take my advice and buy 3M paper instead, you'll be happy to get the job done right the first time.
