This teapot is in a classic white and blue style, with a beautiful antique Italian scene in a quaint rustic setting and delicate floral tone, crafted from fine china from China. Complete with a 'Made in England' stamp on the base, this beautiful blue Italian Spode teapot arrived well packaged with bubble wrap and without the Spode collector's box. This teapot appears to be porcelain or fine bone china in appearance and weight but this Spode line is also listed as earthenware and pottery so maybe only Spode knows but if it's one of the last two heavier it's very light for those , which I can personally vouch for on that promise with Spode Blue Italian Made in England teacups and saucers because they were used almost every day and constantly hit the microwave and dishwasher. years without the slightest trace of aging, cracking or fading. I also have a large selection of teacups, saucers, plates, creamers etc. in "glass" or reinforced porcelain (Villeroy and Boch, made in Luxembourg/Germany) which appear to be very similar in weight, function and delicacy this spode line. Good marks for all these English and German articles I've collected. A Spode Blue dessert plate I bought from Store A was made in Malaysia and appeared heavier and darker - not exactly the same. I read that some Spode Blue items were from other countries and of lesser or different quality. Apparently the "Spode Blue Italian" tea cups and saucers and a host of other items are not currently made in England and I hope that will change - that production will be going back to England because I will be buying Spode which only made in England continue my work. Collection "Blue Italian". I plan to buy many more Spode Blue over time but only if there is an England stamp on the bottom of the items and the quality is maintained. This teapot has played a supporting role in Downton Abbey at least once when I've seen it, and I'm pretty sure I've seen at least the same teacups and saucers in a couple of Jane Austen movies and related movies that go with it and Brontë, Gaskell, Dickens or other such historical works because that porcelain style and pattern was everywhere. from the Regency period and continued into the Victorian period and beyond. It pleases my own senses because of my eighteen hundredth romantic feelings. I live, eat, drink and breathe Austen, Bronte, Gaskell, Dickens and so on, so owning and using such 'antiques' in my life suits me perfectly. answered my question about the Made in England stamp on the bottom so I could buy this kettle with the confidence I wanted. I couldn't be more excited to finally bring this home from across the pond. This will be a real blue English gem among the many teapots in my collection. High recommendations for it.
