So, I like to use dry mix "cleats" for buffing and blending as the final step in my colored pencil drawing process, right? So, I saw them and just thought of the birthday brand and their reputation for making some of the best (albeit overpriced 😑) colored pencils on the market, so damn yes this has to be the strongest and smoothest blending tool out there. . WRONG WRONG. , NOT CORRECT! After sharpening one and holding it on paper for just ten seconds and then applying it as a light burnish pressure, I was able to. CLICK! CLICK! Not only is the pointed tip broken off, BUT THE ENTIRE PENCIL IS BROKEN IN HALF AT THE SAME TIME! Confused, hoping it was just a hoax. Grabbed a second pencil. This time 5 seconds on the paper and it broke AGAIN in two places! I swear I've had kitkat tiles that were harder to break! Save money and time by simply using the very best: Prismacolor colorless blender. (Because two Derwents are terrible too). I will never shop at Caran D'ache again.
