Panasonic PV-D4762 DVD-VCR Combo Review

This DVD-VCR combo is a replacement for a similar unit that I bought new in 2001 and used successfully for five years before bringing it in for service - unfortunately the dealer suddenly ceased its activities and I was never able to return the device. I've been looking for a similar device ever since, but most manufacturers have now removed the tuner from their VCRs (included in this box), which is a critical factor if you don't have a cable. This device also supports three-speed recording and playback: SP/LP/EP, while most of the video recorders available today inexplicably do not support LP, which combines the best picture quality with a rather long recording time (4 hours). Luckily I was able to find this unit at Revain in "like new" condition. The initial setup is a bit tricky, but the user guide is clear and walks you through the necessary steps. There might be too many options for the average user, but you really only need to use the basic features. Most importantly, the picture quality of tape and DVD playback is excellent. As manufacturers start phasing out VCRs, such devices will become hard to come by. Highly recommend if you can find it. Werner
