I don't know everything about rods but I have these and a Rode PSA1. It's durable and definitely strong enough to hold any microphone. Just a few points of comparison: Microphone tilt and pan are controlled with a single screw on this artistic clip. Rotating the mic in this clip isn't smooth and you can't lock it in place like the PSA1. Also, since the pivot doesn't snap into place, it's more difficult to screw the mic mount into place (to be honest, the PSA1's screw and washer system isn't great either, but I think it's better). The clip certainly feels solid despite not being as large as the PSA1 clip. You can lock the rotation with a clamp, which isn't possible on the PSA1. Overall, I also find that the PSA1 adjusts and rotates more smoothly overall. If you're looking to save a few bucks, you've got nothing to lose in terms of functionality with this Boom. That's a great arrow. If price isn't an issue, I'd definitely go with the PSA1. They are not "exactly the same".
