All in One Kit - Engine Parts

If you are changing the timing chain, tensioner or removing the head on your 2.2 ECOtec buy this kit. As long as you don't mess up the timing case gasket, this kit has everything you need, right down to the torque cam bolts. I wasn't sure about getting this kit as I wasn't 100% sure if I would need new camshaft bolts or gears - I was trying to make this repair as cheap as possible. When I got to the engine I found that you would definitely need new camshaft bolts as you would need to back off the gears to have enough play to insert the new timing chain into the engine. OEM bolts are designed for yield strength as they are only used once. This kit also includes a newer type of hydraulic tensioner and an updated oiler to ensure the timing kit is properly lubricated so you don't have the problems ECOtec had eating timing kits in the early 2000's. I'm glad I chose the right (complete) kit. Not quite kit related but this 2.2 Eco is very easy to time, line up three marks and you're done. Definitely one of the easiest top drive motors I've worked on. BUT the new crank gear does not have a unique time stamp like the factory gear. To make sure I was looking at the correct mark, I had to put the old crank gear in front of the new one. Not sure if my kit was just unmarked or all of them. So if you delete your old data, save it just in case until you're done.
