Our 86 pound Chocolate Labrador was diagnosed with Laryngeal Paralysis and had surgery to fix his respiratory problems so his throat is open and he will never be able to put his head under water to poke again. This jacket comes with a piece that can be fastened just below her head to keep her head straight. We were very nervous about letting her swim again (she is a labrador and water is her favorite thing to do), she is easy to handle so we can keep her in the pool at all times and keep her while we are around to care for her assure safety. I would like to add that even with this life jacket we keep her in the water all the time (no product can be 100%, so we should never be careful with our girl Nettie. If you had a dog with laryngeal paralysis, also know that yourself no part of this jacket is next to her airway so there is no pressure there.It's nice to have a product for her that she can still safely get in the water with.This is a great product but babysitting is still an important one part of security...
