This is the perfect jacket for special occasions and not necessarily everyday use. (Wedding, school dance, awards ceremony.) We bought our sons a homecoming dance and it did a great job! We never fitted it to the 'formal suit'... And it was an ideal option for those unfamiliar with those measurements. These XS-XL sizes are a little more forgiving and don't require precision. But I'm telling you, it fits like a glove! However, it is rather small! Not as big as some of the Asian-American translations, but it's definitely smaller rather than bigger. To give you an idea - our son is 16 years old, 6'3", 185 pounds. He has an active build but not the bulky, athletic teenage body type. and we ordered XL. I was blown away by how it looked amazing when he put it on and pulled off this look with such ease.The hint of the 'smaller side' came with raising your arms or reaching forward.it was a bit tight.He had enough room in the center and he could easily make a button. We understand that the jacket itself is somewhat limiting ... But as I said. for specific events (verses for every day) I'm sure you could combine this with several options - we already had the pants and chose the right color.
