works as described. A few days ago I replaced the fountain pen for the first time. I followed the manufacturer's instructions for changing the filter, but I still had a few water splashes. the manual didn't mention it at all. I had a rag on hold underneath it but I guess I was hoping it wasn't quite full. it wasn't much, just more than my little rag could take. I was given a new rag and was aware of the water and had no problems with the other two filters. I didn't remove the whole block from the wall unit. I just unscrew them there. On the 3rd filter, the case fell down, but the internal filter itself got stuck in the upper part. As a result, the water level in the housing wasn't as full to the brim, but if the filter were to fall it would result in water spillage. so if the manufacturer somehow intentionally designed it to stand upright and be easily removable, that probably saves a lot of water and makes filter changes quicker and easier? with a filter in the cartridge, the water pushes to the brim. even if the filter is slightly removed from the housing, the water level in the cartridge will drop. Overall it works and I have another set ready.
