Review on Samyang SY8M-C 8mm f3.5 Lens for Canon: Captivating Wide-Angle Perspective and Optimal Performance by Agonia Ajdini

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good but not great.

This lens fits both Canon EOS bodies, EF-S mount and EF mount. Photos look good! The main disadvantage of this lens is that you can see the lens hood in your photos, I use an EOS 1 Mark 4 and the lens hood is fixed. The lens is metal, which is nice, but the lens hood is visible in the corners of the photo. I was tempted to sand it down with an air powered sanding disc, but that's a big risk. very neat work. Bottom line, this lens would be better if it didn't come with a lens hood. The lens is so wide-angle that the lens hood is practically useless. Aperture and focus is manual only, this lens is suitable for Canon EOS range of cameras, but you need to focus and control the aperture manually, which works great if you put the camera in manual mode.

Pros
  • The lens has a minimum focusing distance of 12 inches.
Cons
  • A lot.

Lens works perfectly. Allows for very interesting effects using a Canon Rebel.
