These foam pads provide superior mechanical filtration in the Fluval C Series. They tend to clog and require flushing, but are not uncommon. The fine mesh side does not hold up well to frequent rinsing and can be difficult to rinse well (especially between the fine pad and the corso pad). Although much better than buying Marineland filter cartridges. You don't actually need to buy these as you can just rip off the fine mesh side of your old one and replace it with plastic wadding. But I like to have a few extras on hand if I want to use them.
