A mask for the winter is highly recommended.
I live in Boston, Massachusetts and bought this mask for cold weather. Great fit, keeps you warm. It fogs up goggles and goggles, just like any mask of this type. "Plastic" front end is not difficult. One of the biggest issues I had was that it got uncomfortable after a while. The front is thick enough to lift your face for easier breathing, and so your nose won't flatten and it's not too heavy to be uncomfortable. I recommend it.
