Review on C. Crane CC Pocket AM FM and NOAA Weather Radio: A Versatile Clock and Sleep Timer Companion by Jeff Henkhaus

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Buy a compact radio. All information provided by the manufacturer is true! Excellent radio with excellent reception and stereo headphone output.

With a number of other radios (Grundig G2, Sangean 180, Tecsun 380, Tivdio V-115, AGPTEC, Tecsun 360), C. Crane CC Pocket completes the family of portable radios - each with its own advantages and Limitations. Crane Pocket checks many of these boxes. Really compact, very powerful FM reception as advertised (no need to use an FM antenna to hear stations where I live), great scroll volume not blocked by all other buttons when locked, Presets, clock and alarm, NOAA weather band, cool clock/RF toggle button, signal indicator, mono/stereo indicator, backlight (with 3 bulb dots below), lock, customizable beep on/off, backlight off option for AM, more variable Sleep timer, excellent stereo sound when using headphones or external speakers, a convenient switch to switch between the internal mono speaker and the connected headphones/external speakers. The built-in speaker is underwhelming, but it's crisp and does its job well. The best thing about this device is that it has all these subtle options - very thoughtfully designed. You can either use it without going into settings or call special functions. The sound quality of this device when using headphones (included and much better than regular free headphones) is impressive! Good. What is missing? I wouldn't give any of them stars as they are desirable features rather than disadvantages. Lack of shortwave, line-in option (not that you'll want to use the built-in speaker), but only if it has a recording option and a built-in rechargeable option. Only features, but then the device will increase in size and price. So overall this is a fantastic unit. For a slightly larger size than the Sangean 180, it has most of the features that the 180 doesn't. A real winner!
