Review on MS300 Monolight Outstanding Stability Anti Preflash by Stephanie Baldwin

Much more convenient than the SK line

I bought one of these and before that Godox SK300II. I wish I had 2 of these instead. While the SK model has more weight and arguably better durability, it's not as useful as the MS model's smaller size/weight and extra light reduction stage. If you buy one of these it is also because you are on a budget and the lighter weight of this model means you can get by with cheaper lighting stands. Putting the SK on a cheap stand made me constantly worry about tips, not like this one. And as a bonus, an extra aperture of up to 1/32 (as opposed to 1/16) comes in handy when trying to compensate with flashes. But all the lights work fine together, SK300II, MS300 and my TT685S. Everything is controlled by the XT1 transmitter. Of course they don't support TTL like Speedlights or the much nicer AD series, but manual settings are perfect for both consistency and learning to control the lights. The Bowens-style mount means you have a massive amount of light modifier options, including some very reasonable softboxes and cosmetic panels. All in all, if you work indoors and money is your biggest constraint, these devices far outweigh their price.
