We used this with a Garmin DriveSmart 70 NA LMT. A Garmin DriveSmart 70 NA LMT GPS navigator with lifetime maps and traffic information, smart notifications, voice activation and driver alerts that's bigger and heavier than what it was made for. The mount stayed in place 99.9% of the time on a 6,000 mile trip, including twice the Alcan Highway. It came off a couple of times, but it was only in a few serious areas of the washboard. This (when the GPS is installed in it) partially obscures the view of the radio screen on our particular truck (2004 Dodge 3500), but it's not a big deal. For us. What it may or may not interfere with depends entirely on your vehicle. It's not blocking anything on my 2001 GMC Safari Van. Their mount didn't fit our Garmin because it was too narrow, but ours wasn't on the list so it wasn't their fault. The ball on it is universal and fits the mount we had for it. It never turns off during normal freeway driving, but test it out on washboards and rough roads, we've dropped it a few times.
