So far I think this shelf is great - The pipe fittings are heavy duty and stain color used on the wood is really nice, fitting in with pretty much any interior style. The wood used for these shelves is balsa wood which is commonly used for crafting. While the benefit is that it is light weight material, it is super soft wood that scratches and dents really easily - it is worth checking the edges and corners before assembling to determine if any particular edge would be better to expose or go against the wall (2 of my shelves had preferable edges compared to the other side)It does takes some time to assemble, however this is pretty much the case with any pipe-furniture structure. I would advise working from the bottom and work your way up to save time.I am going to be using this in my office for books and a couple of small plants, but it could work in a family room too to hang a throw blanket on or towels if used in the bathroom.
