Review on πŸ”Œ Enhanced Rj11 Cable Tester with Multiple Functions by Walter Day

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works great for diagnosing faulty outlets and outlets

I recently installed a 12 port patch panel and found I had several faulty outlets. While one of my problems was my own fault (completely spaced apart and completely plugged in the wrong way round) and would have been apparent with a visual inspection, my two patch panel connections were not secure. I bought this to see if it would help me check my cables and connections and it worked great. Some other properties like length I can't swear to. I tried checking the length of the 5 foot cable but instead it read 30,000 feet. But there could be an issue with calibration and such, or if it's only testing lengths over 10 meters. I'm only taking off one star because the instructions are very poor. Firstly, in this case the term English is fully applicable. I understand that this might not be the main language, but it still amuses me that they can't find anyone who can translate the instructions into real English. But it's not just about spelling, grammar and sentences, it's about a lot of missing or confusing information. For example, this cable length calibration option does not mention anywhere how to do it. Despite all that, it worked great for what I needed (when I found out that when using remote modules, mode 1-4 is used and the probe receiver is in mode 1-1). I was able to test my connectors and immediately saw that all my pairs were swapped in one connector, while testing other connectors showed I had missing connections on a pair of my connectors. I hit them again with the puncher and immediately made good contact. Handy carry case and does what I need so it was worth it.
