We have three young children in two bedrooms, so my main requirements were (1) two-way audio; (2) multiple users, multiple cameras; (3) it just works fine; (4) economical. Wansview actually passes all of these tests. Some things to keep in mind: SETUP - OBSTACLES - it's tricky, but it works. Read the instructions carefully and you'll have to read between the lines a bit. One unusual move is the use of audio (yes, audio) to send Wi-Fi setup instructions from your cellphone to the camera. Your cell phone will literally start beeping like a modem until the camera understands your message. And it won't work if (a) your modem isn't around; (b) it is 2.4GHz; and (c) you have just turned on the camera. I ended up turning off the 5GHz channel throughout the house to ensure the camera only sees the 2.4GHz band. - However, the device is flexible (so initial positioning isn't that important), the wall mounts are basic but do the job and overall it's a good cost-effective solution. Mine were both set up within 45 minutes, not counting the hour it took me to remember how to disable 5GHz WiFi. USE CASES NOT DISTRIBUTED THROUGH THE SOFTWARE (at least on Android and Mac OS phones) - it doesn't just play audio. Indeed? WHY NOT - You can't change the volume. If I want to hear my kids, I also need to hear every phone notification at maximum volume. Indeed? WHY? - The laptop app only allows me to control audio from one camera at a time. Indeed? So I have 2 kids and I have to watch the video stream all the time? WHY? - cannot be left. My cell phone and laptop turn off after a few minutes. As such, I can't leave the camera (or just audio, see above) on overnight or for several hours unless I'm actively using my phone/laptop. Indeed? WHY? - The application is user friendly (all the icons in the top bar should be in a submenu (auto pan, auto tilt, forced low light, mirror horizon, mirror vert), the same goes for the 4 icons in the bottom menu (brightness, contrast, reset , resolution) and as I mentioned above, the video should turn on and off PROS - many features (including two-way audio, multi-camera multi-phone, etc.) - low price - good video, day and night CONS - The app may require a bit of work - Important use cases are not considered - Interesting to customize
