Doesn't work for me

The color didn't convince me. I ordered this hair dryer as in non-Covid times I have split my year between two countries that operate on different voltages so I would prefer a unit that can handle both rather than one of each. I also wanted something compact and easy to pack because I was tired of lugging around heavy suitcases. Does this hair dryer meet these two requirements? Yes. Well, something like that. You see, it's not really a dual voltage hair dryer as I usually understand it. A true dual voltage device needs to be equipped with a power supply capable of supplying the device with the correct current while it is running, which is quite difficult to achieve with a high power device like a hair dryer. If you are using this dryer in a 110/120v country like the US, you can use two settings, low and high, both of which provide hot air. Oddly enough, there is no cool setting. If you're traveling to a country that uses 220V or similar, you can use a screwdriver, penny, or something thin to turn the small dial on the handle of the device to toggle the voltage. However, this button only moves what I assume is a piece of plastic that prevents you from flipping the power switch to the number 2 setting, the high setting. The hair dryer is not really designed to work with dual voltage. It is simply able to perform its basic functions at a higher voltage, but it works intermittently. Attention: If you forget to turn on the voltage regulator and try to use the hair dryer on level 2 in a country with higher voltage, the heating coils in the hair dryer will turn off. light up bright red almost immediately due to overcurrent. The plug has a fuse that will blow before something catastrophic happens, but please remember to turn the knob if using it when travelling. If you travel a lot and just want a basic, inexpensive hair dryer that folds up and works without taking up a lot of room in your bag, then I think this will do the job. But that's not good enough for me. The power button feels cheap and flimsy, and since I'll be using this as my main hair dryer, I don't just need a heat and speed setting when I'm in a 220v country.

Pros
  • Pleasant
Cons
  • Ok for the most part, but...
