We wanted open shelving for our den, so the den wasn't closed in. Also, this shelving blended well with the desks we purchased. Based on reviews, we decided to buy this brand and we also decided we needed two sets, and they almost span the one wall. As others have said, they were easy to put together by paying attention to the directions. As we tightened the screws, the shelving became more secure and stable. Even though brackets were provided, we did not need them. However, if we had children, we would have definitely used the brackets. Filling the shelves is still a work in progress, but they are coming together well. We are happy with our purchase, the quality of the product, and we highly recommend.
