. While I give this product 1 star, it should work fine for audio applications. The cable looks good. Why 1 star? Well I'm an engineer and in my business "specs" are everything. If a supplier lies to you about something, you lose faith in everything they say. As a hobby, I use XLR cables to distribute DC power from one box to another - I usually make my own cables because I need wires larger than 22 AWG, which seems to be the standard for audio cables. Except for Cable Matters who can proudly say they use 16 AWG in these XLR cables. (By the way, the wire gauge indicates the size of the copper portion of the wire, and smaller numbers mean a large wire). So 16 AWG is MUCH larger than 22 AWG. When I received the cables (3 feet) I took one end apart and compared the internal wires to a piece of 22 AWG wire. Really similar in size. Next, I compared it to a 16 AWG piece, which was much larger. It appears to be a standard audio cable with a regular sized cord, which makes sense as a larger cord doesn't make a difference for the mic, just adds weight and bulk. Unfortunately it's not what they advertised and it's not what I wanted. In conclusion, I gave the product 1 star because I don't like fake specs - the wire size is very inaccurate, what else did they do wrong?
