I had a Solia iron that died after about 8 years! I was going to buy back the same brand but it doesn't seem to be getting good reviews anymore. Pooh. After reading reviews and such for a few days, I settled on the GHD. I wasn't sure if I didn't want to control the temperature. I have long curly curly hair. I usually use a higher temperature. (400). In any case, I gave it a try and so far I like it very much. It's not as hot as my Solia, but straightens out faster (? How is that possible) and 1 inch makes it easy to curl my ends. I love it so far. I hope it lasts as long as my Solia.
