I don't understand that smell people complain about. There is a slight vinyl/plastic smell that you can feel on new items. But it's not stunning unless you put your face directly into the case. I have a protective plastic pad on the switch and it fits perfectly in the case. The case is light, durable, inexpensive, there were no problems. I recommend this product.
