Good construction with fatal flaw

After reading many reviews about it we decided to stick with them. Almost everyone seemed to have good results with them, with only a few people mentioning a problem with their overpowering. When they arrived they appeared to be very well constructed and once installed we noticed an immediate improvement: the overhead gate didn't fall on our heads! Sure it was a bit much like some reviewers said, but it was safer than a concussion right?!?! Unfortunately, the answer is far worse than a simple no. If you open it as an adult (with two working hands and one empty hand), you can slowly guide it to its resting place (though even that is unreliable in places). If you're a kid or even an adult with your arms full, you can't quite hold it lest it rise too quickly. In these cases the gate is lifted so aggressively and with such force that the cheap plastic strings are ripped off and the entire weight of the gate falls on your head. which turns out to be even worse than just incompetent racks (at least they help a little). After the first injury I didn't learn my lesson and replaced it. After the second fall, the detached support got stuck between the side panel and the tailgate, resulting in the damage you see in the first photo. I haven't learned it yet! Pulling folding chairs out of the backrest this week I lost my grip on the gate while closing causing it to fly up, snapping the latch ends and falling off, both posts stuck in the gate! He smashed the window, damaged the quarter panel on the other side, like the previous damage, and pierced the bumper on the other side! $2,000 damage! If you have children or elderly who can operate your overhead door, DO NOT BUY THESE STANDS! I'm writing this review now while looking for a replacement. This turned out to be the most expensive item I have ever bought from Revain.
