I bought this product very excited because I had a lot to learn at a crucial moment. Well, it came very quickly (ordered in the morning and delivered in the evening). Then I plugged it in, nothing. HDMI didn't work. General. The C-Type/USB cable did for a second. The screen would turn on, the (inverted) SideTrak logo would light up, then no signal, then sleep mode and nothing. I've tried everything. I downloaded the DisplayLink Manager (as recommended on the SideTrak website), updated Windows, tripled settings and double checked Settings > System > Display > Multiple displays > Nothing detected. My computer does not recognize the monitor. I called and emailed support and got a response from Manuel later that day. Well, when he explained what happens when you turn it on, he said that the problem is most likely in the cables. So they sent me new cables. The same problem. Now I have the choice to get a refund or a replacement. Also, how do I know that the (working) cables from a new monitor will last at all? It seems like too much to bet on a poor quality product. I love the idea of an attachable/rotatable monitor on a laptop. It just seems like SideTrak made a poor quality product at a higher than average price point. Don't buy this. While it works great, it seems to take a short time before the monitor stops working. Don't buy it. I don't know which other competitor is better, but it's not.
