I wanted to bake an orange cake for the solstice. As you can see from the first photo it was an epic failure and the cake stuck to the pan even though I oiled it. In an attempt (or Solstice Cake 2.0 as I like to call it) I buttered and floured the pan. (old school). Some other tricks I found out. Silicone does not conduct heat, bakes longer, almost twice as long. The cake must be completely cool before removing from the pan. Your sun may lose an eye ;) The pain is far-fetched and you must be sitting on a baking sheet. You will improve heat transfer if you preheat the baking sheet. On lighter colored cakes, butter creates a nice brown color in the design.
