Really Nice Factory Update

This is an impressively made replacement for the Jeep JL fender lights. I installed them and they worked as advertised. First you need to know a few things: (1) You need to completely remove the inner fender covers. To do this, cut out a few plastic rivets. You'll also need some special tools, which I'll list later. (2) Prepare to spend several hours (it took me just over 4 hours for both) to install them. If you've never trimmed a Jeep before, I think it can take a full day. (3) I couldn't find a video or instructions! That's really the only reason I took off a star. Pros: Fits perfectly and works flawlessly. It comes with resistor packs so the Jeep doesn't need to flash the computer. It looks very nice. There is no way to determine reliability yet. If this is a problem I will update. The value for money is impressive! Cons: You need special tools, but technically it's not the product's fault as Jeep is made that way. The only real issues were NO INSTRUCTIONS and the side marker plug wasn't done properly. Its pins are loose, pushing out the back of a tiny connector on either side. I put them back in place with a small flathead screwdriver and glued them together. At a minimum, you'll need the following: a 10mm jack, a Phillips screwdriver, lots of zip ties, maybe a box cutter, or at least a sharp pair of wires. Wire cutters, Torx 25 and 30 sockets or screwdrivers and a small flat head screwdriver. You will then need special tools such as the following to remove or reinstall the fender liner: Trim tool and replacement hardware kit: GOACC 240PCS bumper retaining clips and toolHD plastic rivet gun (DO NOT buy cheap $20-30 rivets, they are useless!) : Dent Fix DENDF-CT887 Slimline Plastic Pop Riveter Fender Plastic Rivets: OTUAYAUTO 100PCS Plastic Rivet Clip Here's a tip I want to know right off the bat: If you have all the fender liners and all the Torx 30 screws and two 10mm -Remove screws - there is a large one on the bottom plastic flap that leans back on hinges. It appears as if it's being captured by a metal bracket welded to the frame. You have to STRONGLY press on the front of the fender and bend it to the point where you think it's going to break, but it barely has enough play to pop that plastic flap out. This will reveal the Torx 25 screws. Don't miss the top inner screw!

Pros
  • Great Construction
Cons
  • Crumpled Packaging
