I've used several different magnetic USB cables, the latest GenX/Gen10 models, which work pretty well until the connectors start picking up tiny bits of magnetic debris . - which can be quite common if you live in an area with a lot of iron in the dirt, work with machines, etc. Then you will have connection problems. These latest Gen12 models do a lot better and are *much* easier to clean. They also don't get disconnected as often (never hit quite hard so far) when using Carplay, where a reliable data connection is required. The cable quality is excellent and the connectors appear to be very well constructed. I haven't had any issues with it so far and have been happy with all the cables I've bought from AS (I also bought a couple of Gen10 cable sets from them as I needed more and wasn't sure if Gen12 will affect me ). to upgrade all my devices.) They were really great, so I immediately ordered a few more kits to upgrade all the Micro USB/USB-C/Lightning devices in our house to Gen12. We use these things for everything: phones, micro-USB connected peripherals, rechargeable Apple keyboards and trackpads, earbuds/headphone cases, even our Harmony remotes and rechargeable vape mods. It's nice to have a universal cord that we all carry with us and always have handy to plug in the phone. They still have the same problems as other magnetic cables at times and are criticized by other users, which is a problem at times. The phone doesn't recognize the connection and we have to unplug and plug the adapter back in, after which the phone recognizes the connection and charges/syncs as expected. (iPhone 7,8 and 11, for reference) Also, the adapter is a bit big just because it's round. Therefore they are not suitable for some of our devices with recessed USB ports where the recessed area is rectangular. (Harmony remotes, vape mod and one of our keyboards). So we still have a few devices with Gen10 cables.
