Review on HTTMT MT226-CHROME Air Cleaner Filter for 🏍️ Harley Softail Fat Boy Dyna Street Bob Wide Glide by Darnell Nahabet

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great performance at half the price.

I bought this to replace the Kuryakin hypercharger that was on my 2002 EFI Road King when I bought it. I was tired of the rumble of butterflies and the hassle of cleaning the filter element, not to mention the "cough" that periodically appeared when I pressed the gas pedal. I choose this one over all other studded air filters because the entire filter element is exposed. All other studded air filters have a cover over the filter with slots in it and it seems to me that this one will have much less restricted airflow. At the same time I ordered a k&n filter, which I can highly recommend for two reasons. First, the k&n filter works better, and second, it fits in a triangle. The included filter had a lot of play and dangled in a triangular mount. If you purchased this kit and did not receive a k&n filter, do not install the chrome cap on the filter tip. Otherwise it buzzes. Even though no installation instructions are included, I had no problems installing it and made sure to use Loctite on every screw. The only other thing that kept me from giving it a 5 star rating was that there was no gasket between the bracket that attaches to the throttle body and the 90 degree elbow. To be fair there are none in the photo. I used a tube of silicone to make seals, which worked great. A mounting bracket gasket is included for clarity. I then asked my local HD dealer to remap the fuel injection and dyno. Even the tech was surprised at how much air this air purifier sucked in, which turned out to be on par with other air purifiers but double or even triple the price. When he asked how much I paid for it, his jaw dropped to the floor. I spent a total of 225 including the k&n filter and ECM remapping. That's less than Screaming Eagle Heavy Breather or Ness Big Sucker with exactly the same performance result. I wish it came with a rain sock, but for what you get for less than $100 I have no complaints. And of course my horse looks sick!
